    $title

Livigno is a ski resort located in a wide, remote valley near the Swiss border, about 180 km from Milan, 100 km from St. Moritz (Switzerland), and 35 km from Bormio. Skiing in Livigno

Livigno offers 100 km of ski slopes, with a predominance of medium-difficulty terrain. For beginners, there are many gentle slopes and excellent ski schools with professional instructors. Snowboarders will find wide, perfectly prepared pistes, while cross-country skiers can explore 60 km of trails.

The resort is divided into two main ski areas:

    • Carosello 3000: Ideal for beginners, with blue slopes, accessible T-bar lifts, and a cable car up to 2797 m, from where red slopes begin.
    • Mottolino: Reached by a cable car to 2349 m, offering challenging red and black runs, freeride zones, and access to Monte della Neve (2785 m). A long descent to Trepalla offers easier slopes with scenic views.

For off-piste enthusiasts, the Val Federa valley offers untouched snowfields. Skiers can also use the Alta Valtellina pass to access neighboring resorts such as Bormio and Santa Caterina, with free shuttle buses connecting them.

    Other Activities

Beyond skiing and snowboarding, Livigno offers ice skating, snowmobiling, paragliding, dog sledding, and snowshoeing. It is also famous as a duty-free shopping zone, where visitors can buy designer goods, alcohol, and perfumes at reduced prices.

    Best Time to Visit

The ski season in Livigno runs from late November until early May. The high altitude (1800 m base) ensures consistent snow, complemented by extensive artificial snowmaking systems. However, due to its altitude, conditions can be windy, and upper lifts may occasionally close.

    Accommodation & Prices

Livigno has more than 120 hotels, chalets, and apartments. Room prices range from €90–€400 per night, depending on season and category. Families will find kid-friendly hotels and ski schools, while luxury seekers can enjoy 4★ and 5★ spa hotels with wellness facilities.
